When we exercise, we feel good. As a happy knock on effect of all those feel good endorphins we produce when we exercise, we can also feel more self-confident. Also, if regular exercise means we’re happier with our shape, we’re bound to feel more confident in the bedroom and have a stronger sexual desire.

If we have a partner or partners, this serves us well, as we’re more likely to enjoy a more fulfilling sex life. If we’re on the lookout for a partner, then feeling body confident helps us find it less daunting to seek out a mate.

Not only that, since regular exercise helps to maintain a healthy heart leading to increased circulation and blood flow, it can boost our sex drive in other ways, by improving our ‘sexual response’. This means that we have better blood flow to the genitals which increases our arousal and can even allow for better orgasms. The better the sex, the more we’re inclined to want it, and hey presto, boosted libido!

Studies have proved this theory too. One study found that women in their 40s experienced more frequent orgasms in the weeks when they carried out strenuous exercise. Meanwhile, another study found that men reported higher sexual function scores when they exercised for more hours per week.
