4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar, is often used in dressings but you can also dilute it in water and drink it as a daily health drink. Acetic acid is the main active component of apple cider vinegar and research suggests that it can promote weight loss in several ways. (Although most of the tests so far have been conducted on animals, it’s still thought it could have the same effect on humans.)
Studies on humans do now seem to back this up, and have found that acetic acid can switch on the genes for fat burning, leading to a drop in body fat over time. Acetic acid has also been linked with an ability to supress appetite, boost fat burn and decrease fat and sugar levels in the liver – which can all lead to fat loss. It can also reduce the severity of blood sugar spikes that occur after eating that can protect against inflammation and the related chronic inflammatory diseases including obesity.
There are many types of Apple Cider Vinegar available in health food stores. We recommend choosing an organic brand, and to select an Apple Cider Vinegar that still has the “mother”.
