Coffee Ground Body Scrub: A DIY Recipe for Smooth Skin

Coffee is our favourite exfoliant and one of our best-liked beauty products to make. It’s gentle on the skin, while still being effective at removing dead cells.

Do I need to exfoliate?

Absolutely! If you don’t exfoliate, your skin won’t be as healthy as it could be.
As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. The old skin cells accumulating on the surface of the skin can make your skin look dull and lead to excess sebum and clogged pores.

Exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers the fresh new cells below. This smoothens your skin texture and allows moisturising products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, leaving your face all glowing and beautiful. Now are you willing to make exfoliation an essential part of your beauty routine?

Why is coffee a brilliant ingredient?

1. It improves blood flow – coffee acts like a stimulant on your skin.
2. It adds a glow to your skin – thanks to its antioxidant properties, coffee can instantly give you glowing, fresh and youthful skin.
3. It reduces stretch marks – caffeine can boost your skin’s collagen production, which will lighten and tighten the skin and help stretch marks fade away.

Twice a week before bed, scrub your face and/or body with the homemade coffee scrub. First, start by softening your skin with a 5-to-10-minute shower. After you shower, massage the scrub into your skin using gentle, circular motions. For extra smooth skin, let the coffee scrub sit on your body for one to three minutes. Then, rinse with warm water. Dry your skin and then moisturise your face and body using a rich creme (like aloe vera or Nivea). You can also use a face mask to leave on your skin overnight.

What about other face scrub options?

If you don’t like coffee or are looking into different ways to exfoliate your skin, coffee scrubs aren’t your only option, even if they’re a great one. You could also try homemade face scrubs that are sugar or cocoa-based. These are great for your skin health.
