Simply Accept that Anxiety is a Part of Life
No one can escape the issues and problems that are part of our daily lives. We just have to learn how to deal with them, so we don’t suffer from serious anxiety issues. Feeling anxious is our reaction to stressful situations. We feel uneasy and restless. We may even manifest physical symptoms such as a headache or chest palpitations. These symptoms are a normal reaction and are putting us into fight or flight mode. It can be a healthy reaction, making us complete a project quickly or booking a dental appointment before we lose a tooth.
We need to examine our reaction to stress so we can distinguish between feeling anxious about a stressful situation and feeling anxious over an issue which is long past or feeling anxious all the time. The latter two scenarios are signs of an anxiety disorder which, if left unchecked, can be seriously debilitating. We need to learn how to recognise our stressors so we can deal with them in a healthy way before they make us over-anxious.
Stress is a normal part of life and we can deal with it positively by exercising, eating well, getting enough sleep, socialising with friends and family and generally taking care of ourselves.
