What is a Healthier Alternative to White Bread?
A couple of slices of white, buttery toast, every so often, isn’t going to give us diabetes or cause diabetes to become dangerously worse in the long term. But in order to maintain blood sugar levels and support our overall health, we recommend limiting white bread to the very occasional treat. Just in the same as we would any other food made with white flour, such as biscuits, cakes and pastries.
Instead, we recommend choosing wholemeal brown bread or wholegrain bread made with rye, for a more manageable and less unhealthy impact on blood sugar levels.
We think brown bread is just as enjoyable, and after a short while, you might even find that your palate changes and you prefer the taste, and longer-lasting energy, than white bread provides. So go on, give it a go!
