Coconut oil is a diet friendly food, mainly because it can help you feel fuller for longer. It is also thought to increase the metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories. The recommended amount of coconut oil is one tablespoon per day. Don’t consume more because although our body needs healthy fats, it is also calorie-laden. One tablespoon of coconut oil weighing 13.6 grams (g) contains 121 calories, which is more than lard and butter and slightly less than sunflower oil. There are many ways to take coconut oil, depending on your preferences:

Stir fry – if you are frying eggs, meat, fish, or vegetables, you can use coconut oil as an alternative to butter or vegetable oil. All you need to do is take out a spoonful, and it will soon melt in the frying pan.
Smoothies – smoothies are a great way to take coconut oil, especially if you are not too keen on the taste. You can mix it together with fruit, and you’ll hardly know it’s there, but you’ll get all the lovely benefits from it.
Salads – coconut oil in liquid form may also be added directly to salads dressing.
