6. Support Your Immune System
Our immune system is our natural defence system against invading pathogens that want to cause us disease. This complex system of cells, chemicals, tissues and organs acts as our biological army, constantly seeking our invaders and destroying them. The stronger our immune system, the more defence we have and the less likely we are to get sick with colds, flus and stomach bugs.
Studies show that those who walk at a moderate pace for at least half an hour each day have an almost 50% less risk of developing upper respiratory tract infections. If these individuals did fall foul to cold and flu bugs, their symptoms were less severe and lasted a shorter length of time than those who lived a sedentary lifestyle.
So how about that for a benefit of walking every day?? Because who wants a rotten cold or flu anyway?
