15. Grapefruit
Remember the infamous grapefruit diet of the 1980s? Consuming grapefruit everyday can be part of a healthy weight loss diet because they’re very nutritious packed with vitamins and minerals and very few calories.
However, the grapefruit diet meant consuming half a grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice with every single meal for 12 weeks.
The diet promised quick results, even as much as losing 10 pounds in 12 days, due to certain fat-burning enzymes found in grapefruits. It promised these results without resorting to starvation methods or extreme calorie control, but instead, eating normal meals at normal times.
But the claims of some magical fat-burning enzyme aren’t backed by any research so we suggest you simply incorporate grapefruit into your regular daily meal plans if you like the taste. (Avoid sprinkling with sugar to take away the sharpness, you’ll be undoing any fat burning benefit!)
Half a grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice before meals may help fill you up, so you’ll eat fewer calories at meals and potentially lose weight.
