What Are the High Carb Foods to Avoid?
In order to eat a healthy diet, we need to be eating a balanced diet, and that means eating some level of carbs.
As a general rule, try to make each meal consist of around half fresh fruits and vegetables and a quarter lean proteins such as chicken, fish, eggs, soya products, beans, lentils or chickpeas. The rest can consist of healthy carbs such as these foods listed here and a little bit of good fat, such as a handful of nuts or seeds, half an avocado or a drizzle of good quality olive oil.
Make a point of choosing your carbs carefully. Avoid white, processed carbs such as white bread, pasta and rice, sugary breakfast cereals, baked goods, sugary juices and processed foods.
And remember, not all carbs are unhealthy – without healthy carbs we’d struggle with a lack of physical and mental energy, so don’t neglect them!
