Berries of all kinds, including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are deliciously juicy and sweet. Not only do we love them, but our skin loves them too. Berries are rich in a group of antioxidants called anthocyanins.

Anthocyanins are plant compounds that are responsible for the rich reds, blues and purples of berries. (Fun Fact – the name anthocyanin comes from the Greek words meaning plant and blue.)

There are more than 300 different known anthocyanins but they all have one major job in common – as a powerful antioxidant. Anthocyanins help to protect our skin cells from free radical damage and oxidative stress, which if left to fester, can lead to lifeless, drab skin.
